About Dr. Thom MasonAs an educator, Dr. Mason founded the Department of Jazz Studies for the Thornton School of Music at the University of Southern California and served as Chairman for 18 years.
As a performer, Dr. Mason has worked and recorded extensively in the Hollywood Motion Picture and TV industries since the 1980s. His jazz CD’s have garnered national airplay and made Billboard Magazine’s Top 40 jazz listings. He has also appeared in interviews for jazz radio station KKJZ FM 88.1 in Los Angeles. As a guest speaker, Dr. Mason has made jazz presentations for numerous organizations including the Sacramento Jazz Jubilee, Elderhostel's International, the Arizona Jazz Society, the International Association of Jazz Educators, the California Music Educators Association, the Santa Monica, Glendale, Pasadena and Hollywood Kiwanis Clubs, the Los Angeles Breakfast Club and the Eagle Rock Elks Club. |
