The Seniors Project |
Seniors grew up when Jazz and Swing were America’s popular music. They remember dancing to the music, buying records and going to clubs, dances and concerts during the 30s, 40s and beyond. Many of them still have extensive record collections of Benny Goodman, Count Basie, Ella Fitzgerald, Stan Kenton, Charlie Parker and Dizzy Gillespie.
For these people, an opportunity to hear one of Dr. Mason’ presentations is an opportunity to revisit the fun-filled days of their youth, learn something new and share their experiences and observations - all at the same time. |
A series of multimedia presentations about Jazz and Swing Music, designed for seniors living in retirement homes and assisted-living facilities - developed by Dr. Thom Mason, nationally recognized jazz performer and educator, and founder of the Department of Jazz Studies at the University of Southern California.
Each presentation is filled with musical examples, historical photos, videos and live demonstrations which entertain, educate and stimulate audiences through interactive dialogues and guided listening. |
